The Highways Whole Service Review document below examines the existing services provided by the Highways and Drainage departments under the auspices of Highway Schemes and Programmes and Highway Operations Groups and linking them into the Street Lighting services. The review process also considers the operational staff structure and provides an assessment of the industry, political and legislative drivers that determine and shape the evolvement of the services and their ultimate delivery in accordance with Best Value principles aligned to neighbourhood needs.
Highways and Drainage is a vital front line service, which links into many of the Council’s corporate aims and objectives. Investment in the Highway asset and the ability to maintain this asset to a high standard at a competitive cost is something that the Highways and Drainage service is justly proud. The continuation of this efficient and effective service under the requirements of a neighbourhood and local agenda is the main objective of this review.
