What we do
We are responsible for the installation and maintenance of street lighting, illuminated bollards, illuminated signs, subway lighting and the Trafford Way tunnel lighting on Doncaster’s adopted highways.
Emergencies
Do not touch damaged equipment as it may pose a danger of electric shock.
Please can you report damaged equipment to the contact number at the top of this page as soon as possible. We operate an out-of-hours standby system to deal with emergencies and endeavour to attend emergencies within 60 minutes of being notified. Lighting columns, street signs and illuminated bollards have unique identification number; it helps us to locate the emergency if you can give us the location and the identification number of the equipment.
What is an emergency?
Emergency categories are: -
- Street Lighting column and sign door that have been removed.
- Hanging light fittings and brackets.
- Street lighting columns, illuminated signs and illuminated bollards that have been damaged or knocked down.
Links between Doncaster Council and the Distribution Network Operators (DNO)
The majority of our streetlights, illuminated signs and bollards receive their power supply from the Regional Electricity Companies now called DNOs. Sometimes, our equipment does not work because of a failure in the electricity supply from the DNO. Repairs to electricity supply failures on equipment belonging to the DNO are beyond the jurisdiction of the Council. The DNO’s are notified of the fault and the situation is closely monitored.
Replacement of street lighting columns

A rolling programme of replacing obsolete aged lighting columns is being regularly reviewed and carried out.
We also provide a design and installation service to developers on new residential estates, industrial and retail parks.
We have a dedicated team of trained operatives and engineers who provide a safe and efficient service.
